Helios (space company)

Helios is an Israeli space technology company founded in 2018 with support from the Israel Space Agency, developing an electrochemical reactor that uses molten regolith electrolysis to extract oxygen from lunar soil, which is roughly 45 percent oxygen by composition, by melting it at 1,600 degrees Celsius and then applying electrolysis. The company has partnered with Eta Space to combine its oxygen extraction process with Eta Space cryogenic and chemical engineering expertise toward an integrated lunar oxygen production and liquefaction plant, part of Helios broader goal of using similar processes to produce both oxygen in space and iron on Earth with zero direct carbon emissions.
