Ford Aerospace

Ford Aerospace was the aerospace and defense division of Ford Motor Company, headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, with major operations in California. It originated in 1956 as Aeronutronic, a Ford Motor Company division, and was renamed several times as it grew, becoming Philco-Ford Corporation in 1961, Aeronutronic Ford Corporation in 1975 and finally Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation in 1976. Its products included missiles and targeting systems such as the AIM-9 Sidewinder and the MIM-72 Chaparral. After 34 years as part of Ford, the division was sold to Loral Corporation in 1990.
