Dragonfly Aerospace is a South African company based in Techno Park, Stellenbosch near Cape Town that designs electro-optical imagers and microsatellites for Earth observation and deep space missions. It emerged in August 2020 when former employees of the South African company Space Commercial Services carved out a new business with international investment, growing from about fifteen staff to more than one hundred. The company built the imager for EOS SAT-1, described as the world first commercial agriculture focused satellite, which launched on 3 January 2023, and it has been investing in a design and manufacturing facility with cleanroom space intended for microsatellite constellation production.
