China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology

The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, known as CALT, is a Beijing headquartered research institute affiliated with the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation that designs and manufactures China space launch systems. It was established on 16 November 1957 by the scientist Qian Xuesen, and its main contribution to China civilian and military launch capability has been building the Long March family of rockets, along with Yuanzheng upper stages and Feitian space suits. As of May 2020 the academy employed about thirty three thousand people with total assets of roughly 103.8 billion yuan, and it has also been developing experimental spaceplanes intended for suborbital flight.
