American Satellite Company, known as ASC, was one of many Fairchild Industries subsidiary companies, established in partnership with Continental Telephone in 1972. Emanuel Fthenakis served as its initial president and chief executive officer, succeeded in 1976 by Harry Dornbrand, and the company pioneered advancements in satellite broadcasting within the United States and internationally.
