Messier 35, also known as M35, NGC 2168 or the Shoe-Buckle Cluster, is a relatively close open cluster of stars in the constellation Gemini, about 2,970 light-years from Earth. It was discovered by the Swiss astronomer Philippe Loys de Cheseaux around 1745 and independently found by John Bevis before 1750, and it appears in the sky nearly the size of the full moon, with the more compact cluster NGC 2158 lying just to its southwest.
