Messier 69

Star Clusters

Messier 69, also known as M69 or NGC 6637, is a globular cluster of stars in the constellation Sagittarius, discovered by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille in 1752 and added to Charles Messier's catalogue in 1780. It lies roughly 29,700 light-years from Earth and is one of the more metal-rich globular clusters known, suggesting an origin closer to the Galactic Center than most clusters of its type.
