Advanced Cryogenic Evolved Stage

Launch Vehicle

The Advanced Cryogenic Evolved Stage, known as ACES, was a proposed liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen upper stage developed by United Launch Alliance. In the final years of the program it was proposed for eventual use on ULA's Vulcan launch vehicle, with the aim of improving the on-orbit lifespan of upper stages beyond that of current designs, and it was also studied as a possible in-space propellant depot.
