Space Machines Company is an Australian in-space transportation and satellite servicing company founded in 2019 by Rajat Kulshrestha and George Freney, based at the University of Technology Sydney Tech Lab with additional offices in Adelaide and Bangalore. Its first spacecraft, a 270 kilogram orbital servicing vehicle named Optimus, is designed to inspect, repair, relocate and deorbit other satellites in a taxi style service, and was described at its launch in March 2024 as the largest privately built satellite in Australia. The company has since announced plans for a Sydney manufacturing facility, called Optimus Factory 01, intended to produce up to twenty satellite servicing vehicles a year as it scales toward routine orbital servicing missions.
