Michoud Assembly Facility

The Michoud Assembly Facility is an 832 acre industrial complex in New Orleans East, Louisiana, used for the manufacture and structural assembly of aerospace vehicles and components under NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. Its main building covers about 43 environmentally controlled acres under one roof and employs more than 4,200 people, ranking it among the largest manufacturing plants in the world. Boeing currently fabricates and assembles the core stage of the Space Launch System rocket there, while Lockheed Martin manufactures components for the Orion spacecraft, making the facility central to NASA's deep space exploration programs.
