The Center for Life Detection (CLD) is a collaboration among scientists and technologists from NASA Ames Research Center and Goddard Space Flight Center, established in 2018 and formally founded on February 11, 2019, dedicated to research on detecting life beyond Earth. It supports mission planning and implementation aimed at finding evidence of life elsewhere, researching how biosignatures might be detected on other worlds, developing tools for the astrobiology community, and mapping measurement technologies to life-detection objectives, with particular focus on Mars, ocean worlds and exoplanets as potential targets.
