The David Florida Laboratory is the Canadian Space Agency's primary facility for spacecraft assembly, integration and testing, in Shirleys Bay near Ottawa, Ontario. Opened in September 1972 and named for C. David Florida, a leading figure in Canadian space research, the laboratory prepares communication and scientific satellites and components for orbital platforms including the International Space Station. It houses clean rooms, thermal and vacuum simulation chambers and electromagnetic test equipment, and the agency leases its services to both Canadian and international aerospace organizations.
