The Chilean Space Agency was established in 2001 and dissolved in 2014, at which time the space programme became part of the Ministry of Defence. While it existed, the agency focused on developing space-based information and technology for national applications, and promoted geospatial technologies to support public policy and economic and social development within Chile and the region.
