Goonhilly Earth Station

Goonhilly Earth Station is a satellite communications and deep space ground station facility on Goonhilly Downs in Cornwall, England, founded in 1962 and at one time the largest satellite earth station in the world with more than 30 antennas. Closed by BT for commercial satellite operations in 2008 and sold in 2011, it was taken over by Goonhilly Earth Station Ltd in January 2014 under a 999 year lease from BT Group, which upgraded its 30 and 32 meter dishes to CCSDS deep space communication standards. It now operates commercially, offering ground station services to NASA, ESA, JAXA, ASI, CNES, CSA, DLR and the UK Space Agency in support of deep space and lunar missions.
