Astrocast is a Swiss satellite communications company headquartered in Lausanne, founded in 2014 by a group of graduates of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne to build a global satellite network dedicated to Internet of Things connectivity. The company builds and operates small ten centimeter cube satellites called CubeSats, launching its first five in December 2018 and additional batches afterward, and by November 2024 had put a total of 20 spacecraft into orbit, 19 of which remained active. Backed by investors including the venture arm of Airbus and by the European Space Agency, Astrocast expanded in 2022 by acquiring the Amsterdam based satellite Internet of Things company Hiber.
