SSC Space

SSC Space, previously known as the Swedish Space Corporation, is a Swedish space services company founded in 1972 and wholly owned by the Swedish state. It conducts launches of sounding rockets and stratospheric balloons, tests advanced rocket systems, operates spacecraft, and maintains satellite communication and data downlink through a global ground station network. In January 2023 the company opened a new satellite launch facility at Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden, described as the first facility on the European Union mainland with the capability of launching satellites, and it expects its first orbital launch there using the Firefly Aerospace Alpha rocket, with the same site also supporting the Themis reusable rocket program managed by ArianeGroup for the European Space Agency.
