EUMETSAT

The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, known as EUMETSAT, is an intergovernmental organisation created by an international convention among a current total of 30 European member states. It establishes and maintains European meteorological satellite systems, launching and operating the satellites and delivering their data to end users, and its observations feed numerical weather prediction systems and assist forecasters in diagnosing hazardous weather. EUMETSAT is not an institution or agency of the European Union, although most of its members are EU member states, and it became a signatory to the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters in 2012.
