Leonardo S.p.A. is an Italian multinational company specializing in aerospace, defence and security, founded in 1948 and headquartered in Rome. The company takes part in Europe own space industry chiefly through two joint ventures, holding a 67 percent stake in Telespazio, which provides space systems design, launch services, Earth observation and satellite navigation, and a 33 percent stake in Thales Alenia Space, which designs and builds satellite systems for navigation, telecommunications, meteorology and Earth observation.
