Scientific Workgroup for Rocketry and Spaceflight

The Scientific Workgroup for Rocketry and Spaceflight, known by its German initials WARR (Wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Raketentechnik und Raumfahrt), is a student-run scientific workgroup at the Technical University of Munich. It was founded by students in 1962 to compensate for the university's lack of a dedicated chair in space technology at the time; once that chair was established in 1966, the group began practical projects, starting with Germany's first successful hybrid rocket, one example of which is on permanent display at the Deutsches Museum. WARR has since become known for its work in space elevator competitions, small satellite and interstellar spaceflight concepts, and for winning every SpaceX Hyperloop pod competition. It currently works in bi-liquid propulsion, satellite technology, robotics, and transportation technology, and is a founding member of the German National Student Space Flight Society.
