IN-SPACe, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre, is a single window autonomous agency under India own Department of Space that promotes and authorizes private sector space activity. Its creation was approved by the Union Cabinet in June 2020, opening India space sector to non government participation after decades in which the Indian Space Research Organisation had held a monopoly on space activity. IN-SPACe acts as the link between ISRO and private companies seeking to build launch vehicles or satellites, offer space based services or share ISRO infrastructure, letting ISRO concentrate on research and development while private firms and smaller enterprises pursue their own space capabilities under its authorization.
