National Institute of Aeronautics and Space

The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space, known by its Indonesian initials LAPAN, was the Indonesian government's space agency. It was established on 27 November 1963 by President Sukarno, following an earlier, less formal space research effort that had existed for about a year. LAPAN was responsible for Indonesia's long-term civilian and military aerospace research.
