The Ghana Space Science and Technology Centre, known as GSSTI, opened officially on 2 May 2012 as the first space science, space exploration, astronomy and technology space agency in Ghana. It operates as an institution under the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, and alongside the newer Ghana Space Agency it aims to become a center of excellence in space science, space exploration and space technology through teaching, research and commercialisation, allowing scientists to study astrophysics, remote sensing, natural resource management, weather forecasting, agriculture and national security.
