Orbcomm

Orbcomm is an American company, founded in 1993 by Orbital Sciences Corporation and Teleglobe and headquartered in Sterling, Virginia, that provides industrial Internet-of-Things products to track, monitor and control fixed and mobile assets across transportation, maritime and other sectors. It operates a global network of 31 low Earth orbit satellites alongside hardware devices, modems, web applications and data services delivered over multiple satellite and cellular networks, serving more than 2.3 million billable subscriber communicators for customers including Caterpillar, John Deere, Walmart and Target as of mid-2021. Once listed on Nasdaq, Orbcomm became a privately held company following its acquisition by GI Partners for approximately 1.1 billion dollars in 2021.
