Micro-Space was an aerospace corporation based in Denver, Colorado, founded in February 1977 by Richard P. Speck under the name Spectron Instrument Corporation and renamed Micro-Space, Inc. in 1998. Its strategy was radical downsizing of space systems to cut launch cost and make mission financing feasible, building satellites the size of lunchboxes or cell phones rather than large spacecraft. The company funded and built a number of its own spacecraft and rockets, flew small liquid-fuelled rockets, took part in the 2006 Lunar Lander Challenge in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and supplied components to the emerging CubeSat industry. It was manifested to fly two CubeSats on a ride-sharing launch in 2010. The death of its founder in October 2010 effectively halted its programs, and the company was dissolved in 2011.
