Astranis

Astranis Space Technologies Corp, known as Astranis, is an American company headquartered in San Francisco, California, that specializes in geostationary communications satellites. The company publicly revealed its plans in March 2018 following a funding round aimed at developing these satellites, and expanded commercially in January 2019 through a partnership with Pacific Dataport to boost satellite internet capacity serving Alaska. Astranis launched a 350 kilogram satellite on April 30, 2023 as part of a multi-satellite payload, after earlier testing software defined radio technology on a demonstration CubeSat called DemoSat-2. The company went through the Y Combinator Winter 2016 program and has raised more than 350 million dollars in venture funding from investors including BlackRock, Venrock and Andreessen Horowitz.
