Charles Simonyi

Private Spaceflight Participants

Charles Simonyi is a Hungarian-American computer software engineer, an early Microsoft executive who led development of Microsoft Word and Excel, who later became a private spaceflight participant. He paid for and flew two separate trips to the International Space Station, in 2007 and again in 2009, arranged through the Russian space agency and the company Space Adventures, making him the first private individual to fly to space twice.
