Surveyor 2

Lunar Lander

Surveyor 2 was intended to be the second lunar lander of the uncrewed American Surveyor program to explore the Moon. After its launch on September 20, 1966, a mid course correction failure caused the spacecraft to lose control, and contact was lost on September 22.
