Soviet Crewed Lunar Lander Proposals

Designs for landing Soviet cosmonauts on the Moon that were studied or proposed during the Space Race but never flown, apart from the lunar landers of the Luna program, which are uncrewed. LK-700, proposed by the designer Vladimir Chelomey in 1964 as a direct-ascent alternative to the N1-L3 program and cancelled in 1974, is the first such design in this atlas. A spacecraft belongs here when its cited source calls it a Soviet lunar lander design or proposal that was meant to carry a crew. Landers that actually reached the lunar surface are in the groups for the Luna, Surveyor, commercial, human landing system and Asian programs.
