Bertalan Farkas is a Hungarian Air Force pilot who became the first Hungarian citizen to fly in space, launching aboard a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft in May 1980 as part of the Interkosmos program to the Salyut 6 space station, alongside Soviet commander Valery Kubasov. He spent about eight days in orbit conducting joint Soviet-Hungarian scientific experiments, and his flight remains a significant point of national pride in Hungarys history of scientific and technical achievement.

Bertalan Farkas (Hungarian: [ˈfɒrkɒʃ ˈbɛrtɒlɒn], born August 2, 1949) is the first Hungarian cosmonaut, space explorer and fighter pilot.
