Apollo 12, launched by NASA on November 14, 1969, was the sixth crewed flight in the Apollo program and the second to land on the Moon. Commanded by Charles Pete Conrad with Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon and Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, the crew achieved a precision landing in the Ocean of Storms within walking distance of the robotic Surveyor 3 probe, which had landed there in April 1967, before splashing down safely on November 24, 1969.
