Quasars and Active Galactic Nuclei

Galaxies and galaxy cores whose centres shine far brighter than all the stars around them because a supermassive black hole is feeding on infalling matter, including quasars, radio-loud sources and similar active galaxies. An object belongs here when its cited article calls it a quasar, an active galaxy or an active galactic nucleus, as the article on TON 618, a hyperluminous quasar, does. Galaxies sorted by their shape, spiral, elliptical, lenticular, irregular and dwarf, have groups of their own in this subcategory.
