Jenni Gibbons

Jenni Gibbons is a Canadian engineer and academic who specialized in combustion research and held a lecturer position in internal combustion engines at the University of Cambridge before being selected by the Canadian Space Agency in 2017 as part of the two-member 2017 CSA Group alongside Joshua Kutryk. At age 28 she became the youngest astronaut candidate ever selected by the agency, and as of the mid-2020s she has not yet flown to space but was assigned in 2023 as backup crew member to Jeremy Hansen for the Artemis II lunar flyby mission, serving as a capsule communicator during that mission. She holds a doctorate in engineering from Cambridge and received the Institution of Engineering and Technology's Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award in 2016.
