Laurel Clark

Laurel Clark was an American physician and United States Navy officer who flew as a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Columbia mission STS-107 in January 2003, her only spaceflight. A flight surgeon by training, she conducted numerous biomedical and life science experiments during the sixteen-day mission. Clark was among the seven crew members killed when Columbia broke apart during reentry on February 1, 2003, and she is remembered for the video messages she recorded from orbit describing the beauty of seeing Earth from space.
