Michael Lopez-Alegria is a Spanish-American former NASA astronaut and United States Navy officer who flew four spaceflights, including three Space Shuttle missions and a long-duration stay aboard the International Space Station, during which he set a record at the time for the most spacewalks performed by an American astronaut. After leaving NASA he became a commercial astronaut, commanding the Axiom Mission 1 flight in 2022, the first fully private crewed mission to the space station.
