Kathryn Sullivan

Kathryn Sullivan is an American geologist and former NASA astronaut who became the first American woman to perform a spacewalk, during a 1984 Space Shuttle Challenger mission. She flew three Shuttle missions in total, including the 1990 mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope. After leaving NASA, Sullivan later served as administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and in 2020 she became the first woman to reach the bottom of the Mariana Trench, making her the first person to have both walked in space and reached the deepest point in the ocean.
