Gerald Carr

Gerald Carr was an American NASA astronaut and United States Marine Corps officer who commanded the third and final crewed mission to the Skylab space station, from November 1973 to February 1974, a stay of nearly 84 days that set a spaceflight endurance record at the time. It was his only spaceflight, and the mission remains notable for a brief period of tension between the crew and mission control over the demanding daily work schedule, an episode later studied in discussions of astronaut workload and crew autonomy.
