Tim Peake

Tim Peake is a British former Army Air Corps helicopter pilot and European Space Agency astronaut who became the first British Space Agency-sponsored astronaut to visit the International Space Station, launching aboard a Soyuz spacecraft in December 2015 for a roughly six-month mission. During his time aboard the station he performed a spacewalk to repair a power unit and took part in extensive public outreach, including running the London Marathon on a treadmill in orbit. His mission generated significant public interest in space exploration within the United Kingdom.
