The Observatoire de Paris, whose full name is Observatoire de Paris-PSL, is a French public institution in charge of fundamental and applied research, higher education and knowledge sharing in the sciences of the universe and astronomy. It brings together roughly 800 researchers, engineers, and administrative and technical staff who contribute to theoretical studies, instrumental innovation, and observation services for large ground-based telescopes, metrology and space missions, and it collaborates with the main players in astronomy worldwide. It teaches from undergraduate to doctoral level and offers training for teachers. One of its departments, the Nancay Radio Observatory in the Sologne region, runs low-frequency radio astronomy instruments together with the CNRS and the University of Orleans.
