The Azerbaijan National Aerospace Agency is the governmental body that coordinates Azerbaijan's space research programs for both scientific and commercial purposes. Its lineage traces to the Kaspiy Scientific Center, which operated within the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan from 1974, and to the Space Exploration Scientific Production Association established from that center in 1981. The agency itself was created in 1992 by presidential decree, replacing the Kaspiy Scientific Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences.
