Its earlier National Space Program and Australian Space Office were disbanded in 1996.
Australia disbanded its earlier national space effort in 1996. The federal government ended the National Space Program and the Australian Space Office, and as of 2008 Australia was the only country in the OECD other than Iceland without a space agency.
